Carlos is Nicaraguan born. However, his family moved to the US when he was barely 1 year old fleeing the civil war in the 80s. He was raised primarily in West Virginia and Florida. He then moved to New York City for college, where he studied Economics and Political Science before going on to do a Masters in Economics in Barcelona, Spain. After Barcelona, Carlos moved to Nicaragua and worked for almost 10 years as Project Manager, Grant Writer, Researcher and then Consultant for several non-profits and international organizations like Fabretto's Children's Foundation and World Bank. He eventually took part in several socio-economic projects working for the Governments of Nicaragua, Honduras, Belize and Suriname, as well as the Antillas. While living in Nicaragua he also taught for 2 years International Relations and Economics at the American University of Managua (UAM) before setting aside his career to live in San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua.He currently works as a freelancer doing various projects as a writer and translator. Carlos looks forward to continuing to write for various organizations and hopes to one day write a book on Nicaraguan history and has aspirations to start his own non-profit. Carlos J. Lacayo, M.S.
